Idris Mootee has an interesting post on the danger of management buzzwords. Based on a conversation he overhead by two execs at a fortune 500.

As I consider the concepts of strategy and innovation, I’m struck by how important it is to be able to develop a strategy or plan for innovation that are truly actionable and not just a conglomeration of buzzwords or "big picture" thinking. The following lines jumped out at me from Idris’ post:

"A
big part of strategy is creating purpose and then clearly communicates
those to everyone in the organization so action can be mapped to those
ideas. The goal is to have everyone understand and translate it into
individual actions. The words are supposed to allow us to construct
reality and to act on them."

Buzzwords can create confusion and ultimately, no action. The key for developing and implementing strategy, as Idris points out, is clear communication that allows for action to be connected to ideas.
